Braun wins NL Rookie of the Year

Posted by brvanlanen on November 12, 2007

Congrats to Ryan Braun, Brewers 3B, on winning the NL Rookie of the Year in the closest race ever.  Despite the 26 errors you have to wonder if the BrewCrew would have been in the race down the stretch, let alone in 1st place much of the year.

What’s up in NFDL?

Posted by brvanlanen on November 12, 2007

It was reported last week that the Village Administrator, Al Vacenti, stepped down after only six months on the job.

In scoping out the village website I was unable to find any additional information regarding what transpired.  My hope is that the FDL Reporter will follow-up with more details as to what happened.  I mean what’s up with providing nothing more than a press release?

Thompson to be endorsed by NRTL

Posted by brvanlanen on November 12, 2007

Fred Thompson is about to receive the endorsment of National Right to Life.  The announcement is to come Tuesday in Washington DC according to FoxNews.  In a race that is still wide-open unless you actually listen to the national polls, this is big.  As a social conservative, who is strong pro-life, I find this endorsement to be more important than the supposed “big-name conservative” endorsements received last week by Fred’s opponents.

I’ll try to have more after the “official” announcement, but for more information on Fred’s support of traditional family values click here.

Packers go to 7-1

Posted by brvanlanen on November 4, 2007

Great game today in Kanas City.  Once again the 3-time NFL MVP proved he still has it at 38.  Little worried about the lack of a running game, though that is improving.  Also have to be concerned with some of the big plays given up on defense, though it does rise to the occasion when needed as Woodson showed when took that interception to the House “putting the dagger,” as Wayne likes to say, into KC.

Big games await on back-to-back Thursdays against the pesky Lions who continue to keep pace at only a game back and of course those dreaded Cowboys.  The question of the week though will be if Childress sticks with what has been working for the Vikes, can the Pack stop Adrian?

1st Amendment rights being squashed in Sheboygan

Posted by brvanlanen on November 4, 2007

Came upon this story last week while doing some blog-surfing.  I see the Reporter actually had at least an on-line story on their website.   Seems to me the mayor of Sheboygan has a little bit of an issue with being criticized.  And that he doesn’t understand the laws when it comes to free speech.  So just because you don’t like that someone who organized a failed recall against you, that gives you the right to harass and say “No,” when it comes to linking to the Sheboygan Police Department website?  I don’t think so.  As Taylor on KidNation would say, “Deal with it.”

As others in the blogsphere have done I too will just do this.

Busy, busy

Posted by brvanlanen on November 4, 2007

Wow.  It is amazing how hard it can be to remember to post to your blog when life moves at such a fast pace.  Finally had a chance to check the blog and the last post was over a month ago.  Guess that means time-management may be in order to find time between work, the kids, studying towards Cisco and Vista certifications and probably a million other things.  To my devoted readers I’ll try to update more regularly.
