Favre to greet Pope

Posted by brvanlanen on April 16, 2008

If you can’t wait until Letterman next week to get that Favre fix, Brett will be welcoming the Pope at Nationals stadium in DC tomorrow.

Pope Benedict XVI will be visiting the United States this week and retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre will be there to greet him.

An open air mass is being held Thursday at the 45,000 seat Nationals Park in Washington D.C.

“The large video screen at the stadium will show 15-minute messages from a variety of American Catholics welcoming the pope to America before the Mass Thursday, including a presentation by retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre,” reports Bill Novak of the Capital Times.

Favre on Letterman

Posted by brvanlanen on April 16, 2008

Feel like you need a Brett Favre fix? If so tune into Letterman on April 24.

An NFL spokesman confirmed former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre will be a guest on David Letterman’s late-night talk show on April 24.

Favre is scheduled to make an NFL promotional appearance in New York that day. As long as he was in town, according to the source, Favre agreed to do the show.

It will be Favre’s second appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman,” which airs on WFRV, Channel 5. He also was a guest in 1997 following the Packers’ victory in Super Bowl XXXI. Favre also has appeared on “The Tonight Show” and “The Late, Late Show.”

No input for you

Posted by brvanlanen on April 16, 2008

The Fond du Lac County Board had their 1st meeting since the board size was cut in half. The Reporter had this picture in their article recap of the meeting.

Now if you knew the board was smaller wouldn’t you be remove chairs before the meeting?

That’s not the big thing though. The big thing was an apparent heated discussion regarding public comments.

After a lengthy discussion of changes to the board’s rules that included a heated debate on whether the public should be allowed to comment before meetings, supervisors voted to restructure the county’s committees. Other changes to the board rules were made to reflect current procedural practices, Corporation Council William Bendt said.

The motion to allow public comments regarding items on the board’s agenda before each meeting resulted in a tie vote, and no action was taken.

So you are elected BY the people to work on BEHALF OF the people and you can’t pass a motion to allow public comments? For that matter why is allowing public input at meetings even up for debate? Afraid of the public??
