Attempting to silence critics

Posted by brvanlanen on August 27, 2008

(H/T – Fred and Peter)

Well looky here, Barack Hussein Obama doesn’t like to be criticized or have the truth exposed. His cronies are trying to convince the Justice Department to prosecute free speech.

“We reiterate our request that the Department of Justice fulfill its commitment to take prompt action to investigate and to prosecute the American issues Project, and we further request that the Department of Justice investigate and prosecute Howard (sic) Simmons for a knowing and willful violation of the individual aggregate contribution limits,” he wrote.

He called the group’s activities “patently illegal.”

Apparently Barack Hussein Obama and his cronies need to read up on the first amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It’s not the only example of Stalin-like silencing taking place in Denver this week at the Obama coronation Democratic National Convention.

Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic Senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown’s Palace Hotel.

Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer, Asa Eslocker, who works with the ABC News investigative unit.

A police official later told lawyers for ABC News that Eslocker is being charged with trespass, interference, and failure to follow a lawful order. He also said the arrest followed a signed complaint from the Brown Palace Hotel.

Eslocker was put in handcuffs and loaded in the back of a police van which headed for a nearby police station.
It was two hours later when Denver police arrived to place Eslocker under arrest, apparently based on a complaint from the Brown Palace Hotel, a central location for Democratic officials.

During the arrest, one of the officers can be heard saying to Eslocker, “You’re lucky I didn’t knock the f..k out of you.”

Eslocker was released late today after posting $500 bond.

Barack Hussein Obama and company just showing how things in his administration will be if you search for truth.

Open Letter to Fred Thompson

Posted by brvanlanen on August 27, 2008

The following letter is being sent to Fred Thompson from his supporters.  If you supported Fred’s run, feel he is still the best choice and believe there needs to be an alternative to John McCain be sure to either mention your name in the comments (and they will be forwarded to be included on the letter) or visit here and add it.

Dear Fred,

We, the undersigned, represent the continuation of Fred08.com. We want to thank you for inspiring us to fight for the nation and our Constitution. Your presidential run inspired us to stand up for representative government as laid out by the Founding Fathers. We vary in our decisions on whom to vote for in November, but all of us agree that in order to keep the American dream alive, you should renew your candidacy at the Republican National Convention instead of approving McCain’s nomination. We think it unnecessary to expound on how McCain has shown disregard for the Constitution, and we all have high respect for you, the REAL master of straight talk. Your mother’s health was in our prayers while she was healing from pneumonia. May God bless you and your family. Each of us will continue to Stand Strong for our American values and Principles, and hope that you will continue to share the only message that made sense to us. First Principles.

The hypocrites get crashed

Posted by brvanlanen on August 27, 2008

(H/T – RedState)
Nancy Pelosi and company held a press conference in Denver to unveil yet again a “new” (actually rehashed and old) energy plan. They mocked some visitors who showed up.

Notice how the hypocrites then leave their press conference?

Day 19

Posted by brvanlanen on August 27, 2008

Well, well, well 19 days have passed since Congress recessed. Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats just don’t get it.  While in Denver for the Democratic National Convention Nancy held a news conference to unveil another energy plan.  Republicans quickly pounced.

From John Boehner (R-OH) -

The Democrats’ energy record is one of empty rhetoric and broken promises, and that’s why they have no credibility with the American people.  Energy independence was a signature campaign promise of Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats in 2006, yet their chronic negligence in addressing record gas prices continue to have devastating consequences for working families, small businesses, seniors and schools.  For proof look no further than the fact that Speaker Pelosi adjourned Congress for a five-week break instead of allowing a simple up-or-down vote on the American Energy Act to reduce fuel costs.
“House Republicans are offering an ‘all of the above’ strategy to lower gasoline prices by increasing production of American energy, promoting more conservation and efficiency, and encouraging the use of more alternative and renewable fuels.  The American people support our plan, and they have every right to demand that Speaker Pelosi allow a vote on our energy reforms.  They deserve more than yet another Democratic scheme that will do nothing to lower gasoline prices or reduce home heating costs.  House Republicans’ unprecedented nationwide gas prices protest entered its fourth full week yesterday, and we will not relent until we secure a vote on our ‘all of the above’ energy reforms on behalf of working families and small businesses who need our help.”

From Adam Putnam (R-FL) -

“Clearly, Denver’s rarefied air has gone straight to Democrat leaders’ heads for thinking that their ‘new’ energy plan is anything more than a rehash of the broken promises and failed policies of the past.

“Here we are exactly 600 days removed from the beginning of this Congress, and only now are Democrat leaders getting around to proposing a so-called ‘comprehensive’ plan for energy independence. Maybe one of the reasons for this failure of leadership is because, as we have learned in recent days, Speaker Pelosi does not even know that natural gas is a fossil fuel, or that it will require increased exploration of American natural gas to make use of it. Whatever the case may be, it is disconcerting that Democrat leaders continue to pat each other on the back for a job not done while American families are struggling.

“Moreover, Democrats have demonstrated their glaring lack of credibility on this issue in ironic fashion by proposing an energy plan in the very same city where for months they had been getting their gas tax-free while Coloradans were scrimping and saving to pay their fair share.”

From Virginia Foxx (R-NC) -

“The Democrat energy plan is to ‘drive small cars and wait for the wind’ … Well this reminds me of the people of France who were starving, and the Queen was told that the people had no bread, and her response was to say ‘let them eat cake’”

Americans want action while Nancy and her friends prefer to be on a five week vacation.  In other words these so-called politicians prefer to ignore the will of the people instead of actually doing what they were elected to do.
