Trademark Issues

Posted by brvanlanen on February 26, 2009

Seems the LCMS has some leadership people who suddenly have an issue with a lapsed trademark that is being applied for by another party.

Didn’t the leadership learn anything from last year’s cancellation fiasco?

Go forth and sign the petition.

Kagen votes for more pork

Posted by brvanlanen on February 26, 2009

The House yesterday approved sending another $410 billion down the drain.  That would be the omnibus spending bill that was loaded with 9,000 earmarks.  Some of the earmarks:

* $200,000 for “Tattoo Removal Violence Prevention Outreach Program,” pg. 283;

*Maine lobster earmark in the omnibus, pg. 173;

*$5.8 million earmark for the “Ted Kennedy Institute for the Senate…for the planning and design of a building & an endowment,” pg. 232;

*and National Council of La Raza, $473,000 earmark from Sens. Bingaman and Menendez, pg. 212.

Not surprisingly Congressman Kagen voted for this porkulus deal.  He also had a few earmarks in the bill to the tune of $2,732,000.

Speciality Martets, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade. and Consumer Protection  $338,000

Wisconsin Uvestock Identification Consortium $1,455,000

Johne’s Disease activities, Wisconsin $939,000

Again Congressman Kagen the question has to be asked, why do continue to vote for pork-filled bills that waste OUR money as taxpayers??

And here’s some more.  Why don’t you disclose your earmark requests online?  Better yet why don’t you forgo making earmark requests?

Green Bay Tea Party

Posted by brvanlanen on February 26, 2009

Congressman Kagen we want to know why you keep supporting pork-laden spending bills.  Your socialist friends in Congress and in the White House may think its OK to bailout banks and auto companies.  You and your friends may think its OK to create huge economic burdens that will extend to our children and grandchildren by ramming spending bills through Congress with no chance for amendments or real debate, let alone transparency.  Guess what Congressman Kagen, your constituents back in Wisconsin don’t approve of all this reckless spending of OUR tax dollars!  We are sick of the expansion of current entitlement programs and the creation of new ones!

“We the people” are sick of our voices not being heard by you and your Democratic friends in Washington DC.

In Green Bay we are joining the ranks of cities holding Tea Party protests.

What: Green Bay Tea Party

When: Saturday, March 7, 2009, 11 am – noon

Where: Titletown Brewing Company (Downtown)

This will be an outdoor rally.  A march to Congressman Kagen’s office is being planned.

Spread the word and hope to see you there!

Wednesday Hero 2/25/09

Posted by brvanlanen on February 25, 2009

Spc. Ross A. McGinnisSpc. Ross A. McGinnis
19 years old from Knox, Pennsylvania
1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division
December 4, 2006
U.S. Army

His mission was to patrol the streets of Adhamiyah in northeast Baghdad and find a place to put a 250-kilowatt generator that would provide electricity for more than 100 homes. But it’s a mission he wasn’t able to accomplish.

Shortly after Pfc. McGinnis’s convoy left the compound, and less than a mile from FOB Apache, an insurgent standing on a nearby rooftop threw a grenade into the sixth, and last, Humvee. “Grenade!” yelled McGinnis, who was manning the vehicle’s M2 .50-caliber machine gun. He tried to deflect the grenade but it fell into the Humvee and lodged between the radios.

“McGinnis turned and looked down and realized no one in the truck knew where the grenade was,” said Capt. Michael Baka, his company commander. “He knew everyone had their doors combat-locked and they wouldn’t be able to get out.”

Instead of jumping out of the truck to save his own life, like he had been trained to do, McGinnis threw his back against the radio mount, smothering the explosive with his body. The grenade exploded just as Pfc. McGinnis covered it. The blast filled the vehicle with black smoke and debris and blew the driver’s door and right passenger’s door wide open and blew the machine gun off its mount. The explosion hit McGinnis on his sides and his lower back, under his vest. He was killed instantly.

The other four soldiers in the Humvee suffered relatively minor injuries.

On the morning of December 4, 2006, before his convoy had left, Cpt. Baka has signed a waver promoting Pfc. McGinnis to Specialist and he was posthumously promoted to E-4.

For his heroic actions on that day, McGinnis was awarded the Silver Star and was nominated for a Medal of Honor which he received on June 2, 2008.

He Is My Shephard

Posted by brvanlanen on February 25, 2009

(H/T – Charlie)

In light of President Barack Hussein Obama’s address last night, an appropriate response.   Courtesy of Powerline.

He is my shephard.

I shall not want. He comforts the afflicted. He is a miracle worker.

He promises to provide for Americans from cradle to grave, while lightening the load of government on the backs of ordinary Americans. He promises not to increase their taxes “one penny.” He promises to reduce their taxes.

He must be quite sure that the ordinary American owns no stock and thus will be untouched by the expiration of rate cuts on capital gains and dividends. Perhaps He counts on the stock market to assure that ordinary Americans will remain unaffected by an increase in the capital gains rate.

He thinks that increasing tax rates on the most productive Americans who shoulder the lion’s share of the income tax load will not retard economic growth. He does not count on Americans to respond to the incentives and disincentives he places on them. He does not account for them.

He promises to cut the deficit which He has just massively increased while building in further increases. He promises to make us healthy, wealthy and wise.

His wonders never cease. He will save Detroit.

Though He omitted any promise of a life hereafter, He sought to expand the faith of Americans in things unseen far beyond anything asked of us in our pews each week. He does not forthrightly ask us to believe because the faith He peddles is absurd. Yet it is absurd.

He holds out his faith as right reason. He trusts that that Americans will not notice the contradictory nature of the promises He holds out to them.

He has confidence in His ability to peddle the faith. His confidence exceeds that of hucksters such as Father Divine, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim and Tammi Bakker, and Elmer Gantry combined. He says our day of reckoning has arrived. Yet it is a judgment from which He exempts Himself. His day of reckoning awaits.

Conservative leaders gone AWOL?

Posted by brvanlanen on February 23, 2009

Paul (aka Berry Laker) has a great post regarding the failure to this point of conservative leaders to pounce on the “Tea Party” opportunity.

Where are the leaders of the Right? Where are the so called republican leaders? Where are all those we look up to, follow and read on a daily basis? It seems some of the blogs that a lot of us hick, hay seed ,NASCAR conservatives living out in the heartland listen to and read are AWOL. We look to them for inspiration, guidance, and news that affects all of us that live in this God given country. Where are our government leaders? Where are the people who say they are the pulse and direction of the republican party? Where is Santelli on the RNC website? Here is the WRNC website. People are reacting to this now, today and our supposed leaders are missing the boat. Maybe they will pick up on this in April or May.

They talk about grass roots, they talk about conservative values, they tell us to join them to defend the American dream.

I’d echo that sentiment.  Why is it that the GOP isn’t taking this and running with it?  Protests are being organized by the grassroots and the GOP should be getting behind them.

Rick Santelli’s rant on Thursday was a shot heard around the world and I hear and see very little from the so called conservative leaders (even blogger’s who the base believe in) of this country. Where are they on this? This has jazzed up the base. In a 24 hour period CNBC had over two hundred thousand online votes of people who would join Santelli at his tea party. Last time I looked, 93 % of the people were for Rick’s party. The real people of this country are mad as hell and an opportunity is looking at us square in the face. Where are our leaders?

We have Rush, Shawn, Sara, Bobby and many others. We now have someone that tells the world our concerns, our pain, someone that gives us a voice with words we believe but do not have a public forum to move our beliefs forward. We hear you Rick Santelli and we know your right.

Here in Northeast Wisconsin we have Jerry Bader.  Is he publicizing the “tea parties” that have taken place or the Nationwide Chicago Tea Party coming up on Friday?  Or is he ignoring it like the MSM?

Do the movers and shakers of the right think this is a joke. Did our founders tell the few that participated in the Boston Tea Party your crazy, it’s stupid, don’t waste your time?

How can we sit back and let the federal and state governments destroy this great country of ours? We have the opportunity to take back our country and the people that give us direction are sitting in silence. Yawn.

I don’t know Rick Santelli except for watching my stocks on CNBC. But I can tell you this, it struck a nerve. It boiled my blood against a party that is taking advantage of the people that work hard every day, pay there taxes, don’t complain, give to people of need and pray to God that gave us this great country.

The time to act is now.  The grassroots have realized this.  When will the so-called leaders of the conservative movement realize the need to take this bull by the horn?

Paul hits it on the head at the end.

This is an opportunity we cannot let pass. I am only one voice but I will do everything I can to save this great counrty. I will tell my neighbors, my friends, my family. The Chicago Tea Party is for real and it is everyone’s responsibility to take our counrty back.

Conservative leaders, blogs, friends and neighbors, don’t sit back, spread the world and start a movement. We cannot let this pass.

The growing movement

Posted by brvanlanen on February 23, 2009

The opposition to the expanding entitlements and the Generational Theft Act continues to spread across this great nation.  On the heels of last week’s protests comes news of the largest protest yet that will be simultaneous in nature.

What: Nationwide Chicago Tea Party
When: Friday, February 27, 2009 from 11 am – noon CST
Where: Chicago, IL; Washington DC; Nashville, TN; Los Angles, CA; Redmond, WA; and other cities

More information on the event can be found here.

Michelle Malkin has details of local tea party protests being planned in Dallas/Forth Worth and Atlanta.

Getting straight to the point and helping to get the word out on the American Tea Party is Pajamas TV.

America is on the brink of another revolution. In a new American Tea Party, citizens across the USA are beginning to protest giant government programs that reach deep into their pockets. These programs create huge economic burdens on American families and threaten their livelihood now and into the future.

The team at PJTV has a schedule of planned protests as well as a great review of the US economy and the current crisis.

The American Tea Party protests are gaining national attention.   Check out this article in Investor’s Business Daily.

Holding signs reading “Stimulate Business, Not Government,” “Families Against Porkulus” and “Say No To Generational Theft,” protesters opposed to the $787 billion stimulus package have been mobilizing across the country.

As unemployment soars and anger over Wall Street bailouts mounts, public outrage will seek an outlet. Populism could go in many directions — and could easily ebb when the economy revives.

But if it takes shape as an anti-spending movement, it could revive conservatives much as the 1970s tax protests did.

To be sure, the protest sizes so far are a far cry from the left’s anti-globalization and anti-war demonstrations of the past decade. But they appear to have grass-roots origins.

Liberals are already trying to dismiss the protests.

“These protests are probably ideological rather than practical,” said Robert Borosage, co-director of the Campaign for America’s Future. “As the crisis gets worse and people look for jobs and the (stimulus) money starts moving out . . . people will be grateful.”

Oh contraire Mr. Borosage.  The only reason it’s getting worse is because of the Marxist actions of the socialists running Washington as pointed out in this “American Pie” rewrite.

A long, long time ago…
we can still remember
How Ronald Regan made us smile.
And we knew if we had a chance
we could make those Democrats dance
And, surely we’d be happy for a while.

But this February should makes us shiver
With every promise Nancy delivers.
Bad stimulus on the doorstep;
We shouldn’t take one more step.

We will remember when we cried
As we read Harry’s big fat lies,
But something is foul deep inside
The day responsibility died.

So bye-bye, to our kids piece of the pie.
Obama Drives us to the brink,
will leave us all high and dry.
Coburn and the boys were tryin’ all they could think
Singin’, “You’re making our economy die.
you’ve taken our kid’s piece of the pie.”

Can we still trust in our gov,
We will need our faith in God above,
If we want to make them go.
Do we believe in principles,
Can we be saved from those liberals,
And can Mitch and John keep their troops in tow?

Well, the Unions are in love with them
`cause they read the same liberal hymm.
They change all the rules.
Now we got those stimulus blues.

We’ll end up lonely and without a buck
Just a Green job and a hybrid truck,
Right now, we are out of luck
The day responsibility died.

We started singing,
“bye-bye, our kid’s piece of the pie.”
Obama drives us to the brink,
will leave us all be high and dry.
Coburn and the boys trying all they could think
singing “You’re making our economy die.
you’ve taken our kid’s piece of the pie.”

Now for two months we’ve been on our own
Ried, Nancy and Obama have clearly shown,
Their way is how it’s gonna be.
They’re jesters, jokes and drama queens,
Throwin’ cash around like they’re seventeen
Not listening to the voice of you and me,

And while they read a book of Marx,
We praise Friedman in the dark
The day responsiblity died.

We were singing,
“bye-bye, our kids’ piece of the pie.”
Obama drives us to the brink,
will leave us high and dry.
Coburn and the boys were tryin’ all they could think
singin, ” You’re making our economy die.
you’ve taken our kid’s piece of the pie.”

But we can not sign the blues
We will work for happy news,
Freedom is 21 months away.
We must go to the roof and shout “no more,”
Like we did 15 years before,
It is time to put an end to the Lib’s day.

For today believers in responsibility screamed,
Conservatives cried, But we still will dream.
Loud words must be spoken;
“Our Liberal government is broken.”
And three men to whom we could turn:
Pawlenty, Jindal and Coburn,
From their leadership we can surely learn.

Today, responsibility died.

‘Til then we will be singing:
“bye-bye, our kid’s piece of the pie.”
Obama drives us to the brink,
will leave us all be high and dry.
Coburn and the boys were trying all they could think
singing “You’re making our economy die.
you’ve taken our kid’s piece of the pie.”

And that is something that “We the People” won’t forget come the 2010 elections.
