Eight years in a row! Amazing!

Green Bay Packers fans have delivered again for Wisconsin food pantries, winning the vote in the Click for Cans contest for the eighth consecutive year.

The online contest is sponsored by Campbell’s Chunky Soup, which will donate 18,000 cans of soup on the Packers’ behalf.

Every NFL team received 1,000 cans. The Packers won 12,000 more for America’s Second Harvest of Wisconsin by winning the NFC portion of the contest, then 5,000 more for winning it all.

The Packers more than doubled the Jacksonville Jaguars’ vote total in the championship round of the contest, 137,197 votes to 68,328. Packers fans voted in such numbers that their team won all 17 weeks of the season, then all three rounds of the contest’s playoffs.

This year’s donation brings to about 116,000 the number of cans of soup donated in Wisconsin over the past eight years.

The soup cans usually are delivered to Lambeau Field and distributed from there to food banks in late winter or early spring. (Source: Green Bay Press Gazette)
