“Green Bay fireworks to showcase new downtown”

The Fourth of July festivities in downtown Green Bay provide the perfect opportunity to showcase all that is new.

Downtown Green Bay businesses are pulling out all the stops with about 100,000 people expected at the city’s Fourth of July festivities.

“Just because of how many people are going to be down here, you really have to be on your A-game to showcase what you have,” said Beau Gille, the owner of Adam’s Street Pub & Grill.

Adam’s Street Pub is hoping a pig roast and live music will help lure people in. The restaurant and bar opened just four months ago. Gille hopes the fourth will help introduce people to his new downtown establishment.

“We’re crossing our fingers,” said Gille. “It should be the big hooray, the Super Bowl, I guess so to speak.”

Green Bay city leaders are hoping the same thing for its revamped downtown.

“I think if you haven’t been here in a year, it’s significantly improved,” said Jim Schmitt, Green Bay’s mayor.

Green Bay St. Patricks Day celebration

This should be an exciting event.  Perhaps small-scale compared to other communities but will still be fun.

According to Downtown Green Bay Inc there will be a parade, music/dance performances, a smoke show and fireworks.

Be a part o’ the fun!  Join us Wednesday, March 17th for the 1st Annual St. Patty’s Day in Downtown Green Bay!

At 4:30 p.m. join us at Admiral Flatley Park (400 S. Washington Street) as we start a march down to the CityDeck with Mayor Jim Schmitt, Packer President Mark Murphy, Parade marshals Pat and Rob Riordan,  the Southwest High School Marching Band and the Heritage Irish Dance Academy.

Upon arrival at ShopKo Landing on the CityDeck we will enjoy performances by the band and dancers along with a few brief words from our dignitaries.  Following the performaces check out a green smoke show on the water to cap off the event!

After the smoke show we will head back to St. Brendan’s and other downtown establishments to carry on the fun!  St. Brendan’s will have a special fireworks show at 8 p.m. to cap off the day!

Hopefully the work schedule will allow time to check out what looks to be a great event.
