The UWGB Lady Phoenix suffered a shocking loss.

The run came too late, and with it went the unbeaten season.

The 17th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women’s basketball team suffered a shocking 65-63 loss to Loyola at the Gentile Center on Thursday night, dropping its first game of the season and ending a 34-game regular-season winning streak and a 35-game winning streak over Horizon League opponents.

It was the first regular-season loss since dropping a nonconference game to DePaul in December of 2008 and the first Horizon loss since losing to Valparaiso in January of the same year.

It also was the first loss to Loyola in 36 games, the last defeat coming 15 years to the day. (Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette)

Tough loss that could have an impact come NCAA tournament time due to the weakness of the Horizon League overall.
