More job loss in the 8th district

So Congressman Kagen I thought all these bills that you voted for in the last year were supposed to result in job growth, not job loss.  Yet more job cuts have been announced by companies in the district.

First up is Bay Shipbuilding.

The State of Wisconsin says it was notified Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay will make staff cuts.

The layoffs will begin around May 30th.

In total, the next round of cuts will affect about 89 employees.

That’s in addition to 116 this month and 130 people last August.

The State says the company will aggressively seek new business and may be able to save some of those jobs if economic conditions improve. (Source: WBAY)

Second up is Aacer Flooring.

A Peshtigo employer is closing its doors.

Aacer Flooring is permanently closing its facility on June 1st. About 130 employees will lose their jobs.

The company says it was trying to find capital or business to keep its operations running, but is closing due to unforeseen business circumstances.

The Bay Area Workforce Development Board will provide rapid response services to affected workers. (Source: WBAY)

Two more reasons for Steve Kagen to be given a pink slip in November.
